No comments to the minutes of the PG meeting held last week.

Technical news

  • GPS:
    • Beam was delivered to beamlines during the separator course for users.
    • The power supplies applying voltage to vacuum valves suffered a short circuit, affecting the valves operation. Fixed.
    • The problem with the GLM/GHM deflectors was identified in the encoder. Replaced and awaiting further tests.
    • Faraday cup FC490 readout shows a factor of 2 higher current than the immediate previous cup. Under investigation.
  • HRS:
    • The transmission of the RFQ has deteriorated since the beginning of the year. Under investigation.
    • The laser light shutter for HRS was installed at the end of March.
  • Targets:
    • The tape station software stopped working last week. Fixed.
    • A new shipment of 20 kg of UCx for targets has been delivered.
    • The new ventilation for the target area is ready for UCX targets.
  • RILIS:
    • Successful test of stable laser singly and doubly ionized Ba beams at VADIS.
    • Test of Te beams over Easter weekend, found auto ionizing states.
  • REX-ISOLDE:
    • A new emittance meter installed after EBIS.
    • All REX cavities (not the 9-gap) are now cooled.
    • REX-TRAP is not yet ready for ISOLDE beam. Under investigation.

Safety

  • Tests of radiation alarms at ISOLDE hall ongoing.
  • Access to ISOLDE:
    • The jura side tourniquet is working. The will be permanently closed soon.
    • The B508 access door is not permanently locked yet.
    • Due to the B508 access state, the card reader at the jura side ISOLDE door will be kept.
  • The mechanical workshop passed the safety inspection.
    • Basic operation instructions for the machines will be available.
    • Cupboards and tools are being moved in this week.
    • An acknowledgement form (attached) from the home institutes will be needed to operate the machines.
    • Safety googles and safety shoe-covers are required in the workshop.
