No comments to the minutes of the PG meeting held last week.

Technical news

  • The intervention to repair and substitute faulty faraday cups and scanners was finished last week. Exchanged GPS scanner 482/483; LA0 scanner.
    • the beam diagnostics team thinks that the slow refresh/stuck problems observed by users last year are caused by software issues.
    • New scanners should be delivered and installed in June.
  • Cooling water service will restart on February 16th.
  • The clamping/unclamping mechanism of the target assemblies will be tested again next week.
  • The water station will have an increased lead shielding after requests from RP, following the radiation alarms observed last year.
  • The tesla meters of the HRS separators have been taken for calibration. They will be back before HRS tests.

RILIS

  • The new laser has been delivered.
  • Work ongoing for the laser shutter of the HRS window.
  • Offline preparations of the new LIST target.

Target Area

  • Target ventilation work and upgrades are ongoing.
    • New separate system for MEDICIS.
    • They will removed the contaminated  elements of a part of the class. A lab to have it declassified to speed up the construction work.
  • The MEDICIS building is now connected to the ISOLDE hall.

Safety

  • Emergency evacuation exercise on Tuesday (Jan 27th) morning.
  • The access tourniquet on the Jura side will not be activated until March to facilitate the moving of equipment into b508.
  • The ISOLDE RP hands-on course is scheduled every other week during the winter shutdown. Next course will happen Thursday January 29th.
    • There will be a new electrical-awareness module for users to be given by the same trainer right after the regular RP course, starting in mid-February.

B508

  • Miguel Lozano is now B508 TSO (territorial safety officer).
  • The quote to do the electrical connections and move the machines to B508 machine workshop has been approved. Work will start soon.
    • CERN safety wants to have a workshop manager to ensure that somebody checks that non-authorized personnel do not use the machines.
  • The building entrance will have a common key, either the current ISOLDE offices key or a new one.

B275

  • B275 space will be shared 50-50 with AD. The partition was made preserving the current divisions. See drawings at the end of this document (attached online).
    • In the top floor, ISOLDE will keep the electronics workshop, the detector lab, and its adjacent room. The detector lab will be swapped to the adjacent room.
    • The open area in the mezzanine will be used for storage. Contact Magda if you need to store things there.
  • All equipment currently at the AD ground floor rooms of B275 needs to be moved to B508 before the end of February. Storage boxes should be moved to CERN’s long term storage.
  • CRIS has already moved everything that could be moved to B508.

Miscellanea

  • The future DG, Fabiola Gianotti, will visit ISOLDE on Thursday next week.
    • Cleaning and organizing intervention scheduled for Monday.
    • A  cleaning company will work on the hall on Wednesday
  • Summer student program
    • PH deadline for supervisor projects is February 15th
