Technical News
ISOLDE Shutdown Activities
- Work will be performed on the beam diagnostics at the end of this week
- Exchange GPS FC20 and HRS FC490
- HIE-ISOLDE diagnostic boxes will also be installed
- Power cuts have occurred – 2nd and 5th January
ISOLDE plans on installing an existing 3000 l LN2 dewar
- Discussions on placement of dewar (and protection) will continue
Building 508
- Fire detection system currently being installed – finished at the end of the week
- Locks for exterior and interior doors have been ordered, we will get temporary ones soon.
- Machines for mechanical workshop have been installed – need to be bolted to the floor
- No space for machine for bending Al plates – TBC where it will be installed (at the moment placed under stairs)
- Items from recuperation are stored in SS lab
- Transport will move refurbished furniture stored in SSP lab to rooms on first floor on Friday 9th or Monday 12th January
- Still some work pending from Dimensione – doors/locks/windows/stairs etc
- Door between corridor and first floor is needed for fire safety
- Discussion about key to mechanical workshop to avoid loss of equipment
- Encouraged to start moving equipment into Building 508
- But with the understanding that the keys/locks will not be installed until end of January (change since meeting see above)
Building 275
- 19th January meeting about strategy for moving out of 275 and into 508
- Request to make space in 275
- Possibility to start by making space in little room to right of entrance

- Contact Magda if have any questions about the preliminary number of shifts left for each experiment
- INTC deadline next Wednesday 14th January
