No comments to the minutes from the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting from 30 May 2013.
TECHNICAL NEWS:
- Bld. 601, 115 and 507 are empty. Works are on-going according to the schedule. The working area is fenced around and access inside is forbidden.
- Removal of asbestos in bld. 601 is on-going.
- The declassification of the bld. 115 has finished. The RP testing samples came clean – no radioactivity was found. The asbestos works will start as soon as the official documentation is completed, what should be done within a few days.
- Bld. 507 has to be declassified. The procedure in on-going at the moment.
- There is a new entrance to the ISOLDE hall from the Rue Democrite (see file below). The entrance to the hall is protected with a card reader. Please notice that having the door open for more than 10 min will trigger an alarm and the controlled access team will be informed. As it was decided, in such situation the CSA should phone Didier Voulot (the TSO of the bld. 170) to investigate the situation.
- Cutting of the wall in the hall has finished. Works connected to cutting of the trench are still on-going.
- The REX vacuum system has been restarted.
- The opening of the REX RFQ was postponed till the cutting works in the hall are finished.
- Despite of the protection, dust produced during the cutting works is propagating through the hall.
- The works connected to the MEDICIS project have started. The safety visit held on 20 June 2013 gave a green light for the upcoming activities. The excavation works will start at the beginning of July 2013.
- An IMPACT number has been generated for visits at ISOLDE: 30006. The digital dosimeters are given to Maria Garcia Borge and they have to be used for all visits in the hall. Each guide should introduce his/her CERN-ID number and the impact number. Guides have to be added to the list of already proposed guides either individually or using an e-group. The dosimeters for the visit, when received, will be stored in Maria’s office (3-1-062).
- The old robots were removed from the target area.
- RILIS team finished the tests on the influence of the laser power on the optics of the HRS target. The same tests will be done also for the GPS target.
GENERAL ISOLDE:
- First summer students have arrived at ISOLDE:
- Casey McGrath, University of Redlands, USA (working with Jan and Elisa)
- Monika Dash, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, India (working with Guilherme)
- Jeroen Bos, the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands (working with Kieran)
- Vasil Vasilev Karayonchev, Cologne University, Bulgaria (working with Elisa)
- Alexander Fragapane, Gorge Town University, USA (working with Monika and Alex)
- Gudmundur Stefansson, University of Iceland, Iceland (working with Maria)
- Water will be cut temporary in the hall due to problems with one of the valves in bld. 507 which is leaking.
- A new Ge detector, ordered by ISOLDE, has arrived yesterday. It will be tested by Jan and Elisa in the hall.
- Any anomalies occurring in the ISOLDE hall should be reported directly to Maria.
- The old drawings of the new bld. 508 are accessible in Maria’s office. The new drawings, when available, will be distributed among the people at ISOLDE. Users are asked to notify Maria about the air condition and power requirements for the new building.
AOB:
- Next meeting will take place next Thursday 4 July 2013 at the usual place and time and it will be followed by the seminar of Frank Wienholtz on “Mass measurements of exotic Calcium isotopes using ISOLTRAP’s multi-reflection time-of-flight (MR-ToF) mass spectrometer” (https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=260738)
