No Comments to the minutes of the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting of the 12.04.2013:
TECHNICAL NEWS:
- New shielding to both front-ends is being installed. There will be no access to front-ends from Wednesday on.
- The GMS signal is very weak/absent in the target area; one cannot make a call while being there. A small water leak is present somewhere between the target and the control room, possibly dangerous for HV box below. Both issues are under investigation;
- RILIS is planning to make the same intervention at GPS as they did at HRS;
- REX RFQ will be opened for visual inspection in the coming weeks; the lead shielding of RFQ may require some modifications;
- The vacuum will be restarted soon, waiting for Giovanna;
- The cutting of the wall in the hall will start on 2nd May;
SAFETY
- Alexander Dorsival gave a presentation on the new IMPACT tool and on the operational dosimters (DMC):
- Some COLLAPS stuff in bldg.507 was found contaminated;
- In order to proceed systematically in checking radioactivity contamination, we are kindly asked to make an EDH request for everything to be moved away from the ISOLDE premises. EDH transport requests do not strictly require the request of transport. Transport can be arranged personally;
- Maria B. asked for having two operational dosimeters permanently available at ISOLDE for visitors. Meanwhile, the guides can obtain personally assigned operational dosimeters at bldg.55.
AOB
- Rearrangements of fellows' duties: since some fellows leave ISOLDE, temporarily or permanently, their duties will be distributed as follows:
- Elisa: Seminars + reminding on conferences and abstract submission deadlines (backup: Monika);
- Jan: Visitors at ISOLDE + water supply (backup: Elisa);
- Monika: PGM minutes (backup: Jan, Elisa)
- Coffee-break room: Monika gave an update on the status of the plan for a new coffee-break room in 26/1-033. In agreement with Richard stuff from the ISOLDE kitchen (furniture and fridges) will be moved soon in 26/1-033;
- Isolde Seminar Room: to avoid multiple-booking of the ISOLDE seminar room, Monika will follow the possibility to have a shared calendar of the room;
- Bldgs. 115, 601 and 507 have to be emptied latest by the end of May. Together with bldg. 275 they have been inspected by Maria B. and Julien T.:
- Bldg. 601: it is the first to be emptied (latest 15th of May), it contains asbestos. It includes the kitchen and two offices;
- Bldg.507: it is pretty full. It hosts several laboratories: Solid state physics, Isoltrap, Collaps, UHV, beta decay (MAGISOL), Strasburg-Orsay, Mossbauer biophysics.
- Bldg.275 can still accommodate stuff;
- Conferences:
- Maria presented the conference “IASEN-2013 — The first International African Symposium on Exotic Nuclei”, 02-06/12/2013, Cape Town;
- Deadline for abstract submission to Colloquia GANIL (23-27 Sept. 2013) is 19th April;
- Deadline for abstracts submission to the Mazurian lakes conference is the 10th May;
- The meeting was followed by the seminar entitled “Introducing Authorea, an online collaborative platform for creating and sharing dynamic articles that are built for the modern web” by Nathan Jenkins (University of Geneva);
- No seminar next week.
