No Comments to the minutes of the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting of the 20.02.2013:

TECHNICAL NEWS: no technical news (no technical meeting this week)

GENERAL ISOLDE

  • The EN-EL annual emergency stop tests will take place this week-end. No electricity available in the PS area which includes bldg.275 and bldg. 170;
  • The construction works in the hall have one month delay. The cut of the wall will take place at the beginning of April;
  • From Friday, 1st March, helmets and safe shoes are required in the hall. Please do not enter through the SAS, instead use the entrance in bldg. 601;
  • The DAQ room in bldg. 507 is equipped with shelves for storing the helmets and the safety shoes of the users;
  • Miniball has been dismounted: the pieces of the puzzle are well fitted within the assigned area in the hall extension;
  • Pictures: several pictures of ISOLDE are available on the Cern Document Server http://cds.cern.ch/collection/ISOLDE?ln=en. Kara proposed to meet tomorrow at 11:00 o’ clock in the ISOLDE seminar room to add the caption to each of them. Everyone’s help is very welcome;
  • Thierry accepted to dedicate part of the room 26/1-033 (belonging to the EN section) to allocate a table and some chairs and to use it as coffee-break room. Because of the absence of windows and ventilation system, only drinks and no food, are allowed in the room;
  • The microwave oven in the kitchen of bldg. 601 is missing since a couple of weeks. Probably it has been stolen: question arises if the kitchen should be open during the LS1;
  • 7 summer students from Member states have been accepted to work at ISOLDE;
  • Visits: Caroline A. Duc from the DG-CO section (bulletin service) congratulates and thanks the ISOLDE guides for the visits. The CERN visitors (5 groups) gave a very positive feedback. From the 1stof March, the visitors at ISOLDE must be organized in two groups of maximum 12 people because of the limited number of helmets (24). Next planned visits:

o 3-4 April, visit of ten students from Copenhagen, Monika S. is the contact person.

o 6-8 May, visit od students from Hasselt University: Mark B. is the contact persons, one-two guides are needed;

  • ISOLDE Newsletters: the deadline is today. Several contributions have been received;
  • The meeting was followed by the seminar “CRIS: Studying the neutron deficient francium isotopes with laser and decay spectroscopy” by Kara Marie Lynch
  •
  • Seminar next week: “High precision mass measurements and in trap-decay spectroscopy of rare isotopes at TITAN / TRIUMF”by Stephan Ettenauer (Harvard University(US)) http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=227906
