Comments to the minutes of the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting of the 14.02.2013:

Errata Corrige: (one but last line) Monika (instead of Monica);

The meeting took place on Wednesday, 2 p.m.

TECHNICAL NEWS:

- Emiliano leaves ISOLDE from the 1st of March. We wish him a fruitful work in the new section;

- RFQ has been moved to the off-line lab. A quite large misalignment (several mm) between the electrodes was measured. This explains the difficulties experienced in getting the beam through it.

- EBIS is off, still under vacuum;

- LINAC: from tomorrow it will be switched off and the cooling water will be shut down.

- Target removal will take place the week before the 16thMarch. To help the removal of the targets from the shelves a call for volunteers has been open. Many people volunteer so that Eloide has already collected enough people;

GENERAL ISOLDE

  • Visits: this week ISOLDE is open to visits of CERN employers. Alex, Bruce, Karl, Vladimir, Thomas are guiding the groups in the hall. The visitors range from secretaries to physics-group leaders and have shown to be very interested and enthusiastic, asking a lot of questions.
  • The fire brigade has also asked to have an official visit to ISOLDE. Not only for their personal knowledge, would the visit help them in knowing better the environment. It might help in case of emergency. Guihelme is the contact person.
  • Proceeding of conference: yes or not? Discussion was open during the meeting: Maria will summarize the several opinions/suggestions presented.
  • The journal “Novel Symposium Physica Scripta” is still available online for free till the end of February;
  • News from remote Magda:

o Ecografy shows that the baby feels good;

o Next Wednesday, latest date for delivery;

o The Workshop LANET on laser spectroscopy is going on in CERN (20-22 Feb.) http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=212365

o Radioprotection: temporary dosimeter, one consecutive month validity only, could be obtained without medical certificate and by following the online radioprotection E-course; permanent dosimeter require the medical certificate.

o Controlled areas: a new procedure for the read-out of the dosimeters is applied;

  • Pictures: several pictures of ISOLDE are available on the Cern Document Server http://cds.cern.ch/collection/ISOLDE?ln=en. Help is needed to add the caption to each of them.
  • The meeting was followed by the seminar of Monika Stachura on β-NMR.
  • Seminar next week: “CRIS: Studying the neutron deficient francium isotopes with laser and decay spectroscopy” by Kara Marie Lynch
