1. Technical news:

· In general the shutdown work at ISOLDE is progressing well.

· The emergency target-cooling reservoir has been equipped with a pump to replenish the water when need. Refilling the reservoir was a manual operation before.

· The ISOLDE crane successfully passed an inspection.

· Three pA meters from the HRS area are to be moved out of the area in order to avoid radiation damage.

· REX is under turbo-pumps vacuum.

· The new module providing timing to ISOLDE experiments (T1, T2) will be installed by March 4.

· The used targets will be transported out of ISOLDE on February 11.

· Next week the entrance windows for the RILIS lasers will be replaced.

· Change of the cooling water will be introduced with HIE-ISOLDE. Most notably the guarantied maximum temperature of the water will increase to 27°C (from 20°C). If this is a problem for any of the experiments please contact Richard Catherall.

· The SAS of the new building (extension) is expected to become operational in mid February. This means that dewars should be put there after that point.

· There is no progress around building 115, which was expected to accommodate the solid-state lab from building 275. The move will be postponed until the long shutdown.

2.Physics and schedule:

· Magda already distributed the beam-time requests. The deadline for returning them is January 30. For this purpose people who have submitted experiments to the upcoming INTC should assume that they will be approved.

3.A.O.B.

· Abstract submission for EURORIB2012has been extended to January 25.

· Other prominent conferences in 2012 have been highlighted, for instance: NSD2012, EuNPC2012, 8-th Summer School on Nuclear Physics, NSRT12, etc. For a complete list of nuclear-physics conferences click here.

· Attention to the EURISOL week 2012. Traveling funds from ISOLDE are available.

· There will be no group meeting on Jan 25 or on Feb. 1. The next meeting will be Feb. 8.

4. Seminars:

· Hinko Henry Stroke, New York University, presented “Bohr-Weisskopf revisited”.

· Philip Walker, University of Surrey, will present a series of lectures “The excitation and decay of nuclear isomers” in three parts on 6-8 Feb. Please, distribute the info.

· For more information please visit the ISOLDE - seminars page.
