1. Technical news:
· The cold check has been started.
· All beam lines of GPS are under vacuum. HRS will also be pumped soon.
· FC auto ranging has been implemented for REX.
· FE7 (HRS) has been checked with a test target.
· A normal target will be installed at FE6 (GPS) for use of stable beams.
· REX trap and EBIS are under vacuum, the LINAC will follow soon. Some tests with stable beam have been performed. Work on the controls is being finalized.
· Wiring at RILIS has been completed. All goes as foreseen.
2. A.O.B:
· In a meeting involving CERN management and ISOLDE two main scenarios for the shutdown period in 2013 have been brought up.
- LINAC 4 will not be installed during that shutdown. In that case ISOLDE will run until the end of 2012 and will resume with low-energy experiments in early 2014. HIE-ISOLDE should become online in fall 2014;
- LINAC 4 will be installed during the shutdown. In this case ISOLDE will run continuously until spring 2013 (no winter break). Online work will then resume in early 2015;
· The possibility of using stable beams in part of that period is still to be discussed. Yorick and Magda will put an official request for that.
· After the long shutdown there will be three years of operation followed by another long shutdown.
· In the second shutdown the PSB will be upgraded to 2 GeV or replaced by a RCS (rapid cycling synchrotron) which also would provide 2 GeV but with a higher frequency (10 Hz). The ISOLDE BTY line will need an upgrade in order to accept that energy. The financial part of this upgrade should be covered by CERN.
· ISOLDE requires an update of its MOU (memorandum of understanding). Yorick will move this forward with the CERN administration.
· All ideas for exchanging building 3 with building 275 for offices space have been abandoned. Congratulations! Only the movement of the SSP lab from 275 to 115 may still happen.
3. Seminars:
· Yuri Litvinov will speak about the TSR on Wednesday 20 April 2011 from 14:30 to 15:10.
