1. Technical news:

· The two ASTEC HV power supplies are receiving a fresh oil-bath fill. General tests of the voltage are foreseen for March.

· Tests of FE7 electrical connections, valve-movement, rf-cable connection, and ion extraction from the plasma ion source have been successful.

· REX 7-th gap tuner mechanics is being installed. Further work continues on the vacuum consolidation, the REX-trap upgrade and the BI boxes MCPs. Vacuum in REX-trap will be back around March 15, and in the linac around April 15

· RILIS: beam profile in one of the pump lasers has deteriorated and while the laser was shipped for repair, the spare laser is in use. LIST tests were performed at the offline separator last week. Preliminary data analysis shows results consistent with previous tests. The opportunity of on-line tests will now be discussed.

· Preparations are ongoing for laser pumping in the RFQ. A vacuum flange has been delivered so that evacuation of the beamline can be initiated. Delivery of the actual window will follow.

· Emptying of the first balloon with the ISOLDE pumps exhaust took place.

· The presence of asbestos in building 507 is being investigated.

· Hardware for new picoammeters is in place and software will be ready by March 15

2.Summer students:

· The following priority list has been adopted for the 11 projects coming from our group.

HIGHEST PRIORITY:

- SSP (Guilherme)

- CRIS (Kieran)

- MINIBALL (Janne)

- Medical Isotopes(Tim, Thierry)

Second Priority:

- WITCH (Martin)

- ISOLTRAP (Thomas)

- SSP (Jens)

lower priority

- COLLAPS (Deyan)

- SSP (Karl)

- SSP (Guilherme)

- SSP (Jens)

This list will be forwarded to Michael Doser, who will include this information in his computer program which allocates students to the projects. Supervisors will then be requested to provide a list of their 5 preferred students. Yorick has circulated a preliminary list of students who have expressed interest in ISOLDE.

3. A.O.B:

· The safety files for fixed experiments will have to be prepared and sent to Magda and Christopher Griggs by the end of February.

· Some more reorganizing in building 275 will take place on Thursday. Help may be later requested.

· If somebody’s crane-course validity expires soon, please contact Magda to get info on the required steps.

· There will be no break in liquid He delivery for ISOLDE

· 3D models of your apparatus would be a valuable input for the development of a 3D model of ISOLDE. Please contact Mark Bissell in case you can provide one.

· Apparently there might be available slots for offline work in April. Contact Magda if interested.

· At its next meeting on July 6-7, the INTC will request status reports from: COLLAPS, Ion-source laser spectroscopy, Biophysics, and T-REX-MINIBALL. There will be no call for new proposals.

4. Seminars:

· Thomas E. Cocolios (CERN) presented “Early onset of deformation in the neutron-deficient polonium isotopes identified by in-source resonant ionization laser spectroscopy”.
