1. Technical news:

· The new front end FE6 has been installed and aligned according to schedule. Phase 5 of the installation is in progress, involving cabling, vacuum, etc.

· Cool down of the EBIS charge breeder for REX has been initiated in order to perform maintenance. New beam-diagnostics tools will be installed for REX-ISOLDE as well.

· There is still a concern if the vacuum seal of the 9-gap resonator will hold at a higher RF power. Spare seals are available in case of a failure after further tests. Some mechanical parts of the 7-gap resonators will be exchanged for better operation.

· The REX-TRAP has been started in order to deliver beam to the WITCH experiment.

· Fewer RF specialists will be available next year. Thus, there will be no support during weekends, unless perhaps in cases of gentlemen’s agreement.

· After the delivery of the Sirah lasers the copper-vapor lasers should be remover to allow for adequate room in the RILIS cabin.

· New smoke-detector system is being installed at ISOLDE. For safety reasons, please, use the crane only after the workers have left for the day.

· Permission has been granted for enlarging the opening in the internal wall of ISOLDE for the removal of the MISTRAL magnet.

· Experiments using high voltage must provide adequate insulating gloves available at their apparatus. Usually these need to be replaced every year. More information on which type and brand to use will be given later.

2. Talks and lectures

· Kieran T. Flanagan (Manchester University) presented “The CRIS experiment at ISOLDE”.

· Prof. Morten Hjorth-Jensen (Oslo University) will present series of lectures on the latest advances of the nuclear shell model. For more information, please, follow the link.
