  1. Technical News (Offline work)
  • Tape transport time of the new tape station is limited to 200 ms, due to inertia of the tape itself
  • Ongoing problems with controls on the HRS, which hampers the startup this year.
  • Scanner after RFQ replaced. Original scanner was newly installed during shutdown. Suspicion that mechanical stress broke the latter one.
  • The old RFQ amplifier is installed and working, but fragile. The new amplifier is working offline and will be installed in the coming week (after Easter)
  • Due to the many problems on the HRS and RFQ side, the COLLAPS run is on hold. In case something can be done, it will be a bonus. Users largely appreciate the ongoing efforts to get the machine running. The machine will be shutdown at the latest on friday early evening. Tim Giles has offered his assistance on this.
  • Thursday, the SEM grid will be put on the GPS, to take the first protons on the GPS target on Tuesday next week. Wednesday next week, this SEM grid moves to the HRS target and the BeO target will be installed on the GPS, together with foils to measure the neutron spectrum from the converter.
