  1. Technical News
  • RFQ is working with new amplifier in bunched mode.
  • Fast tape station : missing trigger for the old tape station to measure "in beam".
  • Due to problems at the GPS, the REX training (with beam from HRS) was delayed.
  • Diamond detector tests at the end of REX were performed. Results and conclusions are underway.
  • FC68 needs an intervention (broken wire)
  • problems with the proton integrator are solved
  • Vacuum system : interlock was triggered by broken penning gauge.
  • A controller card for the GLM,GHM deflectors and extraction electrode broke down. Consequences serious : primary target cannot be changed.
  • REXTRAP consolidation on CERN level is pending. This also involves the control system for REXTRAP to be "CERN standard"
  • Small power glitch on sunday around 4:00. Not much harm done, though REX amplifiers were off and needed "warming up" for several days after.
  1. Experiments
  • ISOLTRAP taking beam from HRS. Hampered by low yield for 194Hg. Other candidates are 202Pb and 202Tl. Purpose is the measure masses of isotopes to infer the neutrino mass.
  • Last tests by Anna on the mass resolution of REXTRAP. Taking bunched beam from RFQ. A bit higher efficiency as last summer due to better injection.
  • Stops in the proton beam to ISOLDE due to Machine Developments (MD's) will be announced to the users.
  1. AOB
  • Karl reports on his experiences at the Korean Nucl Phys Conference.
  • Student committee has approved one student to work on the beta NMR setup at the end of REX. One French studend might come to work on that as well.
  • Talk by F. Ibrahim on the ALTO facility at Orsay
