  1. Technical News (Offline work)
  • SEM grid tests were successful.
  • Problem with the proton logger - is being looked into.
  • BeO target tests (6He beam)
    1. Neutron spectrum from the converter will be deduced from foils, which were installed on the primary target ;
    2. VADIS contamination problem : origin found in vacuum grease used (Boron Fluoride) ;
    3. Release curve was measured as function of target temperature ;
    4. Fast tape station was used for first time to look at 8He ;
    5. Continued tests with protons directly on target ;
  • UC hot plasma target will be installed on HRS for mass measurement at ISOLTRAP and the creation of samples for half life measurements (B. Blank)
  • new RFQ amplifier was installed
  • REX delivers beam to the 30 degrees beamline to test diamond detectors for future use as beam diagnostics.
  • REX operator training next week -  HRS beam will be used.
  • EBIS cathode needs to be replaced before the first REX experiment.

  • Thanks to the EC COFUND program, few more fellowship positions become available at CERN. Information can be found on ert.cern.ch
  • Wednesday 22nd of april, there was a meeting with Sergio Bertolucci on the physics at ISOLDE. These meetings will be continued in the future (around 3 times a year)
  • There will be a demonstration of TEKTRONICS oscilloscope at ISOLTRAP
  • There is a 2 week stagiair student at ISOLTRAP and Christine Boehm has returned for few weeks
  • Seminar by B. Jonson on Halo Nuclei, next week seminar by F. Ibrahim on ALTO
