  1. Technical News (Offline work)
  • News from the FOM (formerly the “ABOC”) meeting : booster took first protons from the linac this week. Machines are starting up at CERN, but some usual problems with interlocks are present.
  • Cold checkout of the machines at ISOLDE has started.
  • REX : RF will be ready in time, REXTRAP got rid of the “sparking” problem and mass resolution tests are ongoing (note : multipeaks from last year have disappeared !)
  • COLLAPS will have an offline Be run this week, to test bunched beam and resolution
  • RILIS tests on Mn will be done on the GPS - delayed due to problem on the GPS frontend. Target could not be mounted. Mn test could be postponed till before the first run.
  • HRS : Ca,Be and K will be available. Scanners in the HRS section work.
  • MCP for REX (RA0) is installed and ready
  • Fast tape station checks are ongoing. Current problem with the vacuum (pumping speed is low)
  • There is a usefull option available in the separator logbook, by which the users can write the proton beam properties by a simple click on a button automatically in the logbook. A demonstration in the control room will be organized.
  1. AOB
  • Deadline for non-LHC workshop is 6th of april !
  • Two additional “non-official” ISOLDE summer students will be coming and working for SSP.
  • Alex will be away from 2-12th of april, Jarno will take over for this period.
  • Welcome to Timo Bloch ! He is a student from TU Darmstadt and will do an internship for 3 months at ISOLDE, mainly on MINIBALL.
