Minutes from the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting May 28, 2014
No comments to the minutes from the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting on May 15, 2014.
TECHNICAL NEWS:
- Lots of work going on in the target area. The major things that still have to be done include: commissioning of the robots, ventilation system and the target shelves.
- GPS: at the end of last week 39K beam was extracted from GPS target (done with power supplies in the manual mode), controls are still not working. In general, the separator is in a good state.
- HRS: progress has been made on the HRS vacuum issue even though contamination inside the 90º magnet and the size of the leak are giving lots of technical problems. Since the laser window extension turned out to be fine and leak-tight, the group is now preparing for the sniff-type leak test which should help to localize the real source of the leak, which for moment remains unknown. The team is doing everything they can to fix the problem with the HRS separator and have it operational as soon as possible. - High voltage tested on both separators and it works fine.
- On Tuesday there was an intervention on the new water station behind the control room where the control were tested and repaired.
Bld. 508:
- A new budget was received for the cooling and ventilation system for the new bld.
- Electricity installation is still on hold.
Safety:
- New rules regarding ISOLDE access from July 1, 2014 – see the attached letter from Magda (to be sent to the ISOLDE mailing list).
- For summer students: temporary dosimeters should be acquired for the students arriving in June. For the others: summer student supervisors should try to encourage the students to get the new certificate ready and stamped by the home institute. The new form will be distributed by Magda next week.
AOB:
- There will be no meeting next week.
