TECHNICAL NEWS:
- No technical meeting on 6 August 2013.
GENERAL ISOLDE:
- Bld. 115 has been demolished at the beginning of this week. The works continue as scheduled.
- Kara Lynch has submitted her PhD thesis to the University of Manchester, UK. The defense of her thesis will take place in UK on September 19, 2013.
- Maria has sent several pictures of different experiments at ISOLDE to the Protocol Office at CERN. If successfully chosen, some of these pictures will be display during an exhibition in Restaurant 2.
- ISOLDE workshop will be held at CERN 25-27 November 2013. Abstract submission deadline is on 30 September 2013.
- Jerzy Szuniewicz has joined the ISOLDE group for one month. He will work together with Monika and Guilherme.
- GPS and HRS e-Logbooks are still not available online. Users who need access to them are asked to contact Didier Voulot (Didier.Voulot@cern.ch).
AOB:
- An article entitled “Are some atomic nuclei pear shaped” has been published in the recent CERN Courier (vol 53, number 5, June 2013).
- And another one, “ISOLDE Experiments: from a new magic number to the rarest element”, has been published in the recent CERN Courier (vol 53, number 6, June 2013).
- The last meeting was followed by three summer student seminars: Gudumdur Stefansson, Monika Dash and Casey McGrath.
- Next PG meeting will take place on Thursday 15th August 2013 at the usual place and time and it will be followed by two seminars:
a) Hilary Masenda from University of Witwa tersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, on “Search for Dilute Magnetic Semiconductors – Results from Mössbauer Spectroscopy” https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=267218
b) By the summer student Campbell Kieran Renfrew.
