Minutes of the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting, 18.12.2013

TECHNICAL NEWS:

- PS Booster will be ready to deliver protons by the end of June: no change on the schedule;

- ISOLDE start up: still planned in mid-July;

GENERAL ISOLDE:

Bldg 508:

- Electricity draft plan is ready. Cooling and Ventilation is on the way to be finalized;

- During the Christmas holidays, Gruppo Dimensione will continue working on the metallic structure in Italy. It should be placed on the 19th January;

- Linoleum floor will be placed only at the end of April, then access to the bldg. will be possible;

- The Transport Service will be informed about moving in a lot of equipment into bldg. 508 from mid-May onwards;

- Good internal planning: Guilherme suggested to make a plan about how and when different equipment will be moved in;

- Training: Maria reminded that three Physics courses were organized at ISOLDE during 2013 with a large attendance of Master/PhD students from the ISOLDE collaboration. The big success encourages continuing the programme in 2014. In the planning for 2014: course on Nuclear Reactions and on the use of ISOLDE Separators;

AOB:

- 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of ISOLDE approval (2nd December 1964, History of CERN, III, chap.9 p. 354). We are looking for ideas/suggestions/comments to make a remarkable celebration of all ISOLDE achievements;

- We have been informed by the PH secretary that large travel bookings (>=10 persons) will benefit of discounted prices from Carlson Wag lit;

- The ISOLDE Visitor Room and coffee room will be closed during the Christmas holiday. As a general rule, we are kindly invited to check that both rooms are closed in the evenings and during weekends;

- The meeting was followed by the Christmas reception;

- No seminar on 09th January;
