TECHNICAL NEWS:
- No technical meeting on October 1, 2013.
GENERAL ISOLDE:
- Last Thursday Magda, Elisa, Olof and Jan visited Linac4 in order to discuss their e-m compatibility (EMC) problems. Close attention was given to the choice of a proper grounding in HIE-ISOLDE, in order to avoid issues faced at Linac4. Magda is following up also on the grounding existing at ISOLDE. Radiation EMC, which are of less concern, will be addressed later.
- The quote for testing and repairing the He-leak detector has been received by Magda. The repair will be done most likely on-site at CERN.
Bld. 508:
- A Cu net will be placed below the concrete floor in order to assure a proper grounding for the building.
- First feedback from the person in charge of the electricity has been received.
- Laser safety meeting took place on Wednesday October 2, 2013.
- Today Eliseo, a person in charge of the new building, is meeting the cabin-supplying company in order to discuss the final layout of the building and the work schedule.
- The works connected to the concrete floor should start any day now.
Clean-up of the hall:
- Nearly the entire hall has been cleaned by now. From tomorrow on the company will start cleaning the floor in the passages (using a wiping machine) and around the experimental set-ups (manually with mops).
- Users are encouraged to contact Erwin to discuss any works in the hall.
AOB:
- Julien Thiboud is having a knee surgery in the up-coming days. Therefore, he will not be available for help at ISOLDE for the next 3-4 weeks. Users are asked not to contact him during this period.
- 36 documents have been received by the INTC committee (32 from ISOLDE and 4 for n-ToF). 24 new proposals will be presented at the INTC meeting held on October 23, 2013.
- Several students, interested in doing PhD projects at ISOLDE, contacted Maria. If anyone is searching for PhD candidates, please, contact Maria for more details.
- Jenny asked for filling in the forms regarding the PC in the offices and retouring it to her asap.
- Adeleh Mokhles Gerami, a PhD student from K.N. Toosi University of Technology, Iran, is joining SSP group at ISOLDE for one year.
- The meeting was followed by a seminar of Sune Jakobsen.
- Next PG meeting will take place at the usual place and time and it will be followed by the seminar of Vladimir Manea on “collective degrees of freedom of the neutron-rich A~100 nuclei” https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=277000
