No comments to the minutes from the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting from 18 July 2013.
TECHNICAL NEWS:
- A new safety system is planned for the GPS and HRS separator area. Sound and light alarms will be triggered when protons are sent onto the target the first time. Pros and cons were discussed.
- A similar safety alarm will be installed in the ISOLDE hall and it will be activated in emergency situations by pressing a red button.
- Bld. 601 and 507 have been already demolished. The patch cables which were not recuperated from the bld. 507 were cut and they will have to be replaced in the new bld. 508, fortunately labeling exist. Works on demolishing the bld. 115 have been started.
- The works on the installation of the HIE-ISOLDE air ducts are on-going in the extension hall. Users are strictly forbidden to enter this area.
- Until the installation of the air ducts is finished, the overhead crane is locked. If the crane is needed for moving the dewars to the experimental setups, Erwin Siesling has to be notified one day in advance and the estimated time and duration of use of the crane should be given to him (Erwin Siesling, Erwin.Siesling@cern.ch, tel: 70926, mobile: 164585).
- It is planned to have the ISOLDE hall fully accessible in September 2013 after the main cleaning of the hall.
- Cooling water for the low-energy part of the experimental hall will be available again by March 2014.
- RILIS workshop will be organized either on 21st or 22nd August 2013. The exact date will be given soon.
- The works connected to the extension of the RILIS barrack are expected to start sometime in September 2013 and they will last about 3 weeks.
- The beam alignment will be discussed during a common technical and physics group meeting in the second fortnight of August. The exact date for the meeting will be given by Richard Cathedral. The works connected to beam alignment are scheduled for October 2013.
- A big hole will have to be drilled between the ISOLDE hall and the new buildings to allow for cable passage. This work is scheduled for August 2013.
- Concrete blocks for the linac tunnel will be received at ISOLDE from the 26th August 2013.
- The modification of the metallic mezzanine will happen in September 2013 and it will take approx. 2-3 weeks.
- Works on experimental setups in the hall will be possible only from October 2013 on.
GENERAL ISOLDE:
- Videos of the nuclear physics lecture series given by Prof. Richard Casten as well as the addendum helping with the IBM model are now available on the website https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=252938.

- The last meeting was followed by two seminars:
- Dr. Tetsuya K. Sato (Advanced Science Research Center) on “1st experimental determination of ionization potential of Lawrencium (Z=103) by a surface ionization technique”.
- The 1st summer student seminar by Alexander Fragapane.
- Next PG meeting will take place on Thursday 8th August 2013 at the usual place and time and it will be followed by three summer student seminars:
- Casey McGrath
- Gudumdur Stefansson
- Monika Dash
