1. News from the technical group:

· Successful run with Be at GPS at 40 keV (both with COLLAPS and Collections at GHM). The users are very satisfied. This week, 83Rb and 119In collections are taking place.

· 10000-12000 counts per proton bunch of 12Be were observed throughout the runs (with a peak at 15000 at some point). 10 counts per proton bunch of 14Be were also measured.

· Yields of 30Na were measured for the addendum to the Coulomb excitation experimental campaign with MiniBall at REX involving that isotope. The data are under analysis.

· The HRS target for 78Zn at T-REX (UCx with Ta converter) was strongly outgasing. The target change was therefore delayed from Thursday to Monday. The water cooling lines were monitored once more; investigations on that issue are ongoing.

· HRS-beam tune under way. 60% transmission through ISCOOL. Proton scan ongoing. Yields will be measured later with protons on target and on neutron converter to suppress 78Rb.

· Proton stop on Thursday from 8am until 8pm for an LHC technical stop.

· GPS magnet trip at mass A>90. Temporary fix allows reaching all masses. Permanent repair scheduled for next week.

· The new proton watchdog is noisier but new thresholds solve that issue.

· There are recurrent problems with the Faraday cup readings. Those will be fixed in the coming shutdown. In the mean time, users are requested to limit the number of FC/scanner windows they open.

2. News from the experiments:

· COLLAPS studied 12Be with collinear laser spectroscopy to determine changes in the mean-square charge radius compared to other Be isotopes. The statistics is superior to what was expected and the statistical uncertainty will be very satisfying. The isotopes 9-11Be were also re-measured to estimate systematic uncertainties.

· 11Be emission channeling in GaN was successfully realized at GHM. Promising patterns were observed at low temperature and destroyed at higher temperature, suggesting interesting effects. A full proposal is under consideration.

· Mössbauer spectroscopy with 119In is presently under way and opens new possibilities.

· 83Rb collection did not reach the expected activity but should be sufficient for the needs of the KATRIN experiment.

· Coming this week: COLLAPS test of the new light collection chamber with stable K and the last T-REX run of the year with MiniBall on 78Zr(d,p)79Zr.

3. A.O.B:

· ISOLDE has been featured at the top of the CERN Bulletin for its work on solid state physics in the frame of the HFI conference, hosted by ISOLDE at CERN in September. See ISOLDE news section.

· Efficient use of the protons: discussions with PS and SPS coordinator are ongoing to give these users the proton bunches we would not use. In return, we could run with higher proton currents than the current standard 1.5uA for the most exotic studies (2uA can be requested at any time (if pulses free), higher currents might be reached upon written RP approval). PS can however not accept more than it does at the moment, so any arrangement can only be made for next year. The negotiations will be done on a weekly basis by the different coordinators. YB emphasizes the importance of flexibility on those arrangements to guarantee that physics at ISOLDE is never limited by the surrendering of protons to another experiment.

· The ISOLDE control room is being rearranged to avoid having people sitting too long in the draft of the air conditioning.

· Front End 7 tests: vacuum tight but problems with the water/oil/compressed air lines. It will be installed during the shutdown period in early 2011.

· Some services (crane operation, cooling water) will be stopped during the shutdown period. Experiments are asked to inquire with the technical group for a more detailed schedule of those stops (input should be given to Erwin).

· The deadline for abstract submission to the ISOLDE workshop has passed. The decisions will be made on Friday. Very last minute submissions might be considered until then. People should contact Jenny directly.

· Texts for the ISOLDE website are still welcome. Writers are kindly asked to include both technology and physics within one page.

4. Seminars

· Francesca Zocca from CISC Madrid and ISOLDE presented her work on“New technologies for high purity germanium detector read-out”.
