1. Technical news:
· The emittance meter of the new front end 7 (FE7), meant for GPS, has been fixed. The deflectors were commissioned.
· In the next days tests of the FE7 quadrupoles will begin. In the mean time the current target at GPS will be moved out.
· The entrance window for the RILIS lasers at GPS has been replaced (laser radiation damage was visible). The change of the HRS window is postponed due to concerns about radiation levels.
· Off-line work is ongoing at the LARIS lab on new rare-earth excitation schemes.
· Two TI:Sa lasers will be installed at the RILIS lab.
· The Faraday cups of ISOLDE are being exchanged. This should make the system more reliable and user friendly. The scanners, even though there are some known issues, will remain in the current condition for another year.
· Work on the new REX trap controls is ongoing. REX vacuum consolidation is also progressing.
2.Important announcements:
· The responsibilities of the BE RSO Luca Bruno are being taken over by Magali Gruwe. If you organize a visit of a group to ISOLDE you should e-mail her and Alexandre Dorsival with copy to Magda, Richard and Yorick.
· There will be a safety visit at ISOLDE on Tuesday the 18-th at 11am. Please, clean up what you can around your setup in advance.
· Building 275 has been cleaned and organized. The effect is remarkable. We need to think about the best use of the available space.
· The INTC meeting will have a long opened session on the 2-nd (starting at 13:30) and the 3-rd Feb. (from 8:30 to 11:00), as the number of documents received by the committee is 22. Our Group meeting will be moved accordingly to Tuesday the 1-st at 15:00 (after the technical shutdown meeting) when we will also have the pleasure to have a seminar by Prof. Paul-Henri Heenen. Jens Roeder (long-term visitor with the Solid State Group) will give the seminar on the 19th of Jan. See the ISOLDE seminarannouncements.
3. Safety:
· Christopher Griggs and Joao Batista Lopes attended our group meeting and presented the concept of the new safety organization at CERN and indicated the associated consequences for fulfilling safety requirements for experiments. One important message is that all ISOLDE fixed experiments will need a filled safety form by the end of February, the template of which one can acquire from Magda.
