1. Technical news:

GPS:

· Tuesday: tuning of protons via BTY line, watchdog tests, proton scan on the SEM-grid target.

· Thursday: #443 Ta-W target on.

· Friday: Cs mass marker found at 60A and HV sparking even at 40kV - most probably the extraction electrode is polluted with Cs.

· Monday: extraction electrode exchanged and GPS holding 55kV; proton scan made in the afternoon and beam given to TISD for Smionization tests (problems with GPS magnet – an intermediate solution found, waiting for a proper solution).

HRS:

· Thursday: #426 ZrO-W targeton.

· Friday: target line drops to 0A.

· Monday: target taken off and open – a hole/crack in the target container.

· Tuesday: backup target on (#444).

REX:

· REX trap behaving well.

· REX EBIS waiting for rough-pump exchange.

· REX linac – still not under vacuum (debugging of the vacuum system) and rfproblems.

· Vacuum control problems stopped the REX vacuum on several occasions.

RILIS:

· Sm running.

· Laser conditions better than last week.

2. Seminars:

· Gerrit Jan Focker gave an introduction to the new ISOLDE Farady-cup system.

· Michael Bender (Centre d'Etudes Nucléairesde Bordeaux Gradignan) presented “The description and role of fluctuations in collective degrees of freedom in mean-field-based models of nuclear structure”.

· Everyone is welcome to follow the "Nuclear Structure Lecture Series" by Rick Casten (Yale University) every day in the period 9-12 of May.

· For more information and links to the slides please visit the ISOLDE - seminars page.
