Minutes of the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting, January 11th 2017

Schedule

  • The document submission deadline for the next INTC meeting is today. The open session of the INTC meeting will take place February 8th.
  • Beam-time request sheets are being prepared and will be distributed soon. The deadline for returning them will be shortly after the next INTC meeting, in order to allow for some of the experiment collaboration meetings to take place.

Safety

  • The OFSP (Office Fédéral de la Santé Publique) visit took place on Tuesday. They wanted to review the way collections are being performed at ISOLDE, following two finger doses related to ISOLDE collections (one at ISOLDE and one at PSI). A new type of collection chamber will be put in place at ISOLDE.
  • Thanks to all people who participated in the cleaning of the hall.
  • An important message from safety is to have as little wood as possible in the hall.
  • A safety visit of the SSP/chemistry labs took place today and went well, with recommendations to the storing of the decontamination water and to the periodic monitoring by RP of the ventilation filters.
  • It is possible that an on-line cryogenic awareness course will become part of the mandatory package for ISOLDE access. The purpose of the course is to familiarize the users with the cryogenics safety signs present in the hall.
  • From now on the access requests have to be made using the ADaMS system instead of EDH.

AOB

  • We have two new users joining the ISOLDE group this month: Joao Pedro Esteves de Araujo from Portugal will be working for 2 months on a new type of electrodeposition of radioactive isotopes and Felix Stabel joined the Miracls project of Stephan Ettenauer for a 4-month bachelor thesis internship.

The next PG meeting will be held Wednesday January 18th at 14:00.
