Comments to the minutes of the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting from 8 May 2013:
- The Visite d’Inspection Commune (VIC) took place at ISOLDE on 7 May 2013.
- The contractor started works at ISOLDE but the wall and the trench have not been cut yet.
TECHNICAL NEWS:
- At the technical meeting (14 May 2013) Erwin reported on the VIC inspection, which put the work at the hall on hold due to several missing documents of the contractor. The works are now foreseen to start within a week.
- The cable traces from REX and MINIBALL will remain in the hall.
- Low energy part and EBIS are brought back to vacuum. REX is not yet being pumped due to problems with some vacuum elements (a few pumps have to be replaced).
- The balloons belonging to the separator vacuum system are completely full. To be followed by RP. Vacuum in the experimental hall is not concerned.
- Amplifier from the 9 gap will be dismounted and sent to Germany for maintenance and power upgrade (needed for the HIE-ISOLDE Linac).
- RFQ works are postponed until the wall cutting is finished.
- Measurements showed higher radioactivity in the target area than expected. Mounting of the new robots was put on hold. The dose rate per worker has to be re-evaluated for the planning of the future work.
- The work connected to the MEDICIS project is going on. The trees were cut and probes of the soil were sent to evaluation. It is planned to have the building for the off-line separator and the class A laboratory ready still in this year.
- The filters from the ventilation system inside the hall were checked (routine check done every year). It was found that the efficiency of the filters is 10 times below standard and they have to be replaced.
GENERAL ISOLDE:
- Empting of bld. 507 and 115 is on-going. Persons in charge reported on the progress (Karl on PAC lab in 115 and laser lab in 507, Monika on the chemistry lab in 115, Kara on the CRIS laser lab in 507, Mark on the COLLAPS laser lab and the storage room in 507 and Frank on the ISOLTRAP storage room in 507).
- The buildings 115 and 507 should be emptied by 31 May 2013.
- The asbestos in bld. 115 and 601 will be removed by an external company prior to demolition.
- By the end of November 2013 the new bld. 508 should be finished at the level of the concrete floor and the cabins. The electricity and ventilation will be done in the spring of 2014.
- The electric plugs from bld. 115 should be recuperated and stored in the offices. For telephones please contact the help desk. In the new buildings the connection will go by optical fiber.
- The optical fiber and the “caniveau box” should be retained for next building.
- The situation with the BNC cables is unknown. This will be addressed to Richard at the next technical meeting.
- The missing electronic modules have been economically compensated except for NIM CAEN N470 - NIM POW.SUP.8kV/1mA rented 21 March 2007 by DELAHAYE, which we hope to find.
From now on an EDH document will be requested to borrow modules from the e-pool using the group account. No monthly rental remains on the Collaboration account.
AOB:
- Supervisors of the summer students are asked to send an e-mail to Elisa with the start and end dates of the projects of their student. This is needed in order to plan the office space and the PCs.
- Next meeting will take place next Thursday 23 May 2013 at the usual place and time and it will be followed by the seminar of Liam Gaffney in the study of pear shape nuclei (http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=248506)
