No Comments to the minutes of the ISOLDE Physics Group Meeting of the 04.04.2013:
The meeting took exceptionally place on Friday 12.04.2013.
TECHNICAL NEWS: no technical meeting this week.
GENERAL ISOLDE
- Maria B. reported on the HIE-ISOLDE International Advisory Panel that met on 10-11th April. The members of the committee gave very positive comments on the status of the HIE-ISOLDE project and the work done so far. Future IAP meeting will be dedicated to the crucial points only;
AOB
- Maria asked Alexander D. to allocate two active dosimeters permanently for ISOLDE visitor groups. The visitor’s guides have to activate them by entering their own ID number plus a generic code written on the machine sitting at the bottom of the stairs in the Jura side of the hall. Remind: on the use of the new active dosimeter, Alexander D. will give a presentation on Tuesday 16.04.2013 at the end of the Technical Meeting.
- Visits: Next Monday 15.04.2013 at 10:30, Swedish students. Guide: Richard C.
- Summer Students selection was completed. 11 out of the 12 ISOLDE physics-related projects got a student. Please refer to the table below for more information. We expect to have a Finnish student who will also join a project at ISOLDE.
- Empting of bldg. 507, bldg. 115 and bldg. 601 should be completed already by the end of May. Alexander D. has already started checking for radioactive contaminations;
- Please note that the passwords for accounts “isouser” and “isoop” have changed;
The meeting was followed by the seminar entitled “Hyperfine techniques studies of surfaces and interfaces using isolated ad-atom probes” by Abel Fenta, PhD student from Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal; http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=244024;
- Seminar next week: ”Introducing Authorea, an online collaborative platform for creating and sharing dynamic articles that are built for the modern web” by Nathan Jenkins (CERN) http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=241360.
